Beim Workshop mit Dr. Beverley Ditsie, Aktivist*in, Autor*in und Filmemacher*in aus Südafrika geht es um Aktivismus in der aktuellen geopolitischen Situation und die Rolle der UN. Dr. Beverley Ditsie wird die Erfahrungen des Widerstands mehrfach diskriminierter Schwarzer Südafrikaner*innen und das eigene Verständnis von „queer joy and affirmation“ einbringen und ist interessiert an Aktivismus in Deutschland. Es wird einen inspirierenden Austausch geben!

Filminhalt:
Auf der 4. UN-Weltfrauenkonferenz 1995 in Peking hielt Beverley Ditsie, Queer-Aktivist*in aus Südafrika, eine historische Rede mit der Forderung, dass „Lesbenrechte Frauenrechte sind und Frauenrechte Menschenrechte“. 2020 trifft Beverley Ditsie die Mitaktivist*innen wieder, um dieses bedeutsame Ereignis für die Sichtbarkeit von Lesben zu erinnern und zu feiern.

Klaus Jetz nahm am Panel zu „Afrika: Repression – dunkle Wolken und (k)ein Regenbogen?!“ ein. Er ging auf die Bedeutung der deutschen und europäischen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit für die Unterstützung von queeren Projekten in Afrika und Lateinamerika ein nach dem Rückzug der USA, den Kürzungen der Niederlande und der Neuorientierung einiger Privatstiftungen, berichtete zu aktuellen Entwicklungen im frankophonen Afrika, zur Ausbreitung autoritärer Systeme, aber auch zu positiven Entwicklungen im südlichen und lusophonen Afrika.
In der Paneldiskussion am Abend „Der Schutz von LSBT* weltweit – Aufgabe von Politik & Gesellschaft“ setzte er die Schwerpunkte auf die wichtige Arbeit multilateraler Foren wie die Equal Rights Coalition und ihre verschiedenen thematischen Gruppen, auf das Phänomen der Konditionalität in der Entwicklungszusammenarbeit oder das Problem der Straflosigkeit bei Menschenrechtsverletzungen an LSBTIQ*.

"Ein einzigartiger Beitrag zur LGBTQ-Literatur" (Kirkus Reviews)
“La Bastarda” ist der erste ins Englische übersetzte Roman einer Frau aus Äquatorialguinea und erzählt die Geschichte der verwaisten Teenagerin Okomo, die unter dem wachsamen Auge ihrer Großmutter lebt und davon träumt, ihren Vater zu finden. Da es ihr verboten ist, ihn zu suchen, nimmt sie die Hilfe anderer Ausgestoßener des Dorfes in Anspruch: ihren schwulen Onkel und eine Bande „mysteriöser“ Mädchen, die in ihrer sogenannten Unanständigkeit schwelgen. Okomo wird in ihre unerlaubten Verabredungen hineingezogen und verliebt sich in deren Anführerin, während sie gegen die starren Normen der Fang-Kultur rebelliert.
Trifonia Melibea Obono ist Journalistin und Politikwissenschaftlerin und forscht zu Frauen und Geschlecht in Afrika. Sie lehrt an der Fakultät für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften der Nationalen Universität von Äquatorialguinea. Derzeit promoviert sie an der Universität von Salamanca (Spanien) im Bereich Geschlechterstudien und Menschenrechte. Ihre Kurzgeschichte "La Negra" wurde in die Anthologie “Voces feministas de Guinea Ecuatorial” (Barcelona 2015) aufgenommen und ihr erster Roman, "Herencia de bindendee", wurde von Editions del Auge (Madrid 2016) veröffentlicht.
Wir sprechen über ihr Werk und ihren Aktivismus und die aktive Rolle queerer und feministischer Bewegungen für gesellschaftliche Veränderungen auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent.

Moderation: Oliver Ernst, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Klaus Jetz took part in the panel on “Africa: Repression - dark clouds and (no) rainbow?”. He addressed the importance of German and European development cooperation for the support of queer projects in Africa and Latin America following the withdrawal of the USA, the cuts by the Netherlands and the reorientation of some private foundations, reported on current developments in francophone Africa, the spread of authoritarian systems, but also on positive developments in southern and lusophone Africa.
In the panel discussion in the evening “The protection of LGBT* worldwide - the task of politics and society”, he focused on the important work of multilateral forums such as the Equal Rights Coalition and its various thematic groups, the phenomenon of conditionality in development cooperation and the problem of impunity in the case of human rights violations against LGBTIQ*.

A unique contribution to LGBTQ literature” (Kirkus Reviews)
“La Bastarda” is the first novel translated into English by a woman from Equatorial Guinea and tells the story of Okomo, an orphaned teenager who lives under the watchful eye of her grandmother and dreams of finding her father. Forbidden to search for him, she enlists the help of other outcasts in the village: her gay uncle and a gang of “mysterious” girls who revel in their so-called indecency. Okomo is drawn into their illicit trysts and falls in love with their leader as she rebels against the rigid norms of Fang culture.
Trifonia Melibea Obono is a journalist and political scientist who researches women and gender in Africa. She teaches at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the National University of Equatorial Guinea. She is currently completing a PhD in Gender Studies and Human Rights at the University of Salamanca (Spain). Her short story “La Negra” was included in the anthology “Voces feministas de Guinea Ecuatorial” (Barcelona 2015) and her first novel, “Herencia de bindendee”, was published by Editions del Auge (Madrid 2016).
We talk about her work and activism and the active role of queer and feminist movements for social change on the African continent.
