New 2023 project from the Hirschfeld Eddy Foundation

We believe in change: Human rights, freedom of religion or belief, and preventing anti-LGBTIQ+-violence and discrimination – a project to promote dialogue will run from January to December 2023. It provides information about the lives of LGBTIQ+-people and the views of different religions. Its goals are to raise awareness of the sometimes lethal threats facing LGBTIQ+-people, and to motivate people in general to take responsibility and act on the principle of “No violence!”

An (apparently) intractable dilemma frequently arises in debates at the United Nations and to differing degrees in everyday life throughout the world. The dilemma places the human right to freedom of religion in opposition to the human right to non-discrimination. This project uses background discussions and networking sessions to promote dialogue among otherwise distanced groups in order to dismantle biases and foster positive developments. With web talks and other public events, it presents inclusive communities from different world religions and brings devout LGBTIQ+-activists together with researchers and representatives of different religions.
