"Artivismus ist ein mächtiges Werkzeug, um feindselige Haltungen gegenüber unserer Gemeinschaft zu bekämpfen und es ist eine schöne, andere und mächtige Art, das Bewusstsein für mehr LGBTIQ-Akzeptanz zu schärfen", sagt Karam Aouini, Organisator des ersten Queer Film Festivals in Tunis und Mitarbeiter der LGBTIQ-Organisation Mawjoudin in Tunis.
Unsere Partnerorganisation hat drei Queer-Filmfestivals in Tunis organisiert und ein Queer-Theaterstück vorbereitet, das in den kommenden Monaten im ganzen Land aufgeführt werden soll. Das erste Filmfestival präsentierte Filme aus der MENA-Region, das zweite aus dem globalen Süden und für die dritte Ausgabe hat Mawjoudin drei internationale Produktionen aus dem Norden eingeladen.
Karam wird erklären, wie sie es schaffen, Queer-Filmfestivals und queere Produktionen in einem LSBTIQ-feindlichen Kontext zu organisieren, wie man Schaden vermeidet, was die Dos und Don'ts sind. Unser Gast wird über die Überzeugungskraft und Wirkung von Kunstproduktion sprechen, über regionale Inspiration und Zusammenarbeit mit Ländern wie dem Libanon, über Allianzbildung und Inklusivität im Kunst- und Regionalaktivismus. Außerdem werden wir bei diesem Treffen Informationen aus erster Hand über die aktuelle Situation in Tunesien erhalten und darüber diskutieren, welche Art von Unterstützung und Zusammenarbeit sinnvoll sein könnte, um die LGBTIQ-Gemeinschaft im Maghreb zu stärken.

Hirschfeld Eddy Foundation cordially invites you to a networking event with a LGBTIQ human rights defender from Tunis on Friday, 8 July 4-5:30 PM in Berlin
“Artivism is a powerful tool to combat hostile attitudes towards our community and it is a nice, different and powerful way to raise awareness for more LGBTIQ acceptance”, says Karam Aouini, organizer of Tunis’ first Queer Film Festival and staff member of the LGBTIQ organization Mawjoudin in Tunis.
Our partner organization has organized three Queer Film Festivals in Tunis and prepared one Queer Play that will be presented all over the country in the coming months. The first Film Festival presented movies from the MENA region, the second from the Global South and for the third edition Mawjoudin included three international productions from the North.
Karam will explain how they manage to organize Queer Film Festivals and queer productions in a LSBTIQ hostile context, how to avoid harm, what are the dos and the don’ts. Our guest will speak about the persuasive power and impact of art production, about regional inspiration and cooperation with countries such as Lebanon, about alliance building and inclusiveness in artivism and regional activism. Moreover in this meeting we will receive first hand information about the current situation in Tunisia and we will discuss what kind of support and cooperation might be useful to strengthen the LGBTIQ community in the Maghreb.
