Poster | „The Right to Belong“: The Language of Equality, Diversity and Human Rights

Poster (A1) „The Right to Belong“ with terms restricted by the U.S. government (double-sided, in English)

In the spring of 2025, the New York Times published an article titled “These Words Are Disappearing in the New Trump Administration”. It contained a list of around 200 words that the government had flagged to be avoided or limited in use. The list was compiled based on government memos, which ordered the removal of some terms from government websites and advised caution in the use of others.
On the poster „The Right to Belong“ we are publishing the NYT’s complete list of 200 words in alphabetical order. 
The back of the poster explains how these terms are part of the language of human rights. Many of these terms appear in the titles and texts of international agreements; they are part of international law.
